Grenadiers HQ and Mortars completed

Just some recent painting! I may be spread too thin right now- working on DAK, EW desert brits, Soviets, and Early/mid "Grey" Germans!

Anyhow, these were fun to paint!

Nice work. I bet those helmet insignia took ages to paint.

Looking nice indeed, those bases ... how do you do them ? Covered in glue, dipped in rock and then static grassed or is there more to it than that ?

Thanks guys!

@Big Lee- not too terribly long, they're quite sloppy and all about the effect :)

Dave- here's the basic tutorial: http://www.whatwouldpattondo.net/2010/05/fow-basing-tutorial.html

After that, yeah just painted on watered down white glue with static grass, and then I put on the silflor tufts!

OK, that's it! I've been shamed into it! I'm busting out some figures and starting to clean them right now! I've got to get back to painting... :)

Do it!

I've had a vision that I can't shake. "Paint Chat". I paint almost every night. What if we had a teamspeak type thing going on- even skype. Everyone painting can get on and shoot the breeze while painting.

Just a thought- opinions?

Perhaps a text chat would be better. Less distracting, doesn't interfere with movies, and you can respond at your own pace. It also scales better.

hmmm

but interrupts painting.... I can talk and paint at same time lol

Nice job, Steve-O!

As for the chat thing, I cant do it -- Im not set up to have painting and computer going at the same time.

Also, I have a question, Steve. There is a tournament coming up in February that is Early/Mid (one for each day) in the desert, and I don't know if I should bring a Crusader or a Honey Stuart Company. Crusaders have Tally Ho! and Unreliable, and Stuarts don't have either. Other than that, they are the same. Which one?

indierockclimber said...

Honeys also have an extra MG and an extra 4" movement!

Besides that, it's kind of a personal preference I suppose. I think the Crusaders are potentially more effective in EW where Tally Ho trumps getting to side armor. With the opposite true in mid war.

I thought that the Crusader was a fast tank too? That's what it says on the Hellfire and Back spotlight, anyway. I personally like the look of the Crusader better, but Unreliable kinda scares me.

indierockclimber said...

Crusaders are FAST TANK which means they move faster at the double. Stuarts are LIGHT TANK which means they move faster in a regular move.

Oh. That's a very important distinction there. It just goes to show how new I am to Flames of War. In that case, I will probably go with Stuarts now, and try Crusaders later. You should come to the tournament, Steve. It would be your favorite periods together. I understand that you will be busy with baby Isabelle, though. :(
