WWPD News From the Front Episode 19

"Live from... the car!"

Steven and Sean record in the car to and from the Flames of War tournament "Showcase Showdown" in Media PA. This episode is primarily about their experience at this tournament, and is fairly unstructured. There is a brief review of the board game Wrath of Ashardalon, though a full review will be forthcoming. Be warned: the audio quality is not up to our usual standard, and the occasional foul language was loosed upon the world.

Even with the cell phone audio it was a good show, helped me zone out at work and dream of gaming. Nice recaps on the tournament.

Those AAR-intensive, post-tourney podcasts are my favs. Nice work.

AARs without photos are difficult to follow. It wouldn't be so bad if you hadn't set yourself such a high standard on this blog! Also, any podcast without Luke is like a hamburger without a bun.

thanks W! Yeah, I never take photos at tournaments- I don't want to slow the game down. Luke will return from his fortress of solitude next episode :)

I agree with others here, even with the phone audio, the content was great.

I don't think the audio was bad, it was clear all the way through. And I also really enjoyed this episode, may sound weird but it felt like your best to date. Really interesting to listen to your thoughts about various early war army lists and hearing about the Polish train.

Going to see the train in action this Saturday btw when we play FoW down at the club. But I think you are right about it, and looking at the stats I realized it could possibly knock out a lot of stuff with the guns - but the armor was not that impressive and certainly not invulnerable. It is also fairly expensive in points - I almost think you need to defend it with most of your army and let the train do the artillery barrage/tank killing.

Currently painting more Polish infantry so I can run a infantry battalion this weekend, the tank company worked well but I'm a "infantry player" at heart :-)
