Personal Update!

"I urge you to please notice when you are happy, and exclaim or murmur or think at some point, "If this isn't nice, I don't know what is."
-Kurt Vonnegut

I'm bored and a little tipsy so what the hell, here's an update!

Life's been really good lately. Dare I say as good as it's ever been! No real reason, still poor and busy but ultimately I am quite happy. For the past few weeks my day has consisted of working with all people who'se company I enjoy and work that isn't frustrating (anymore... and sometimes even borders on fun!), then coming home to Lydia (who is constantly looking out and going out of her way to do nice things) and watching episodes of Sherlock Holmes (The Jeremy Brett version). I like parenthesis.

I've also been working on some tunes lately. Link: Crown & Anchor

Hard to believe I'll be a married man in a month and a half! Lydia's new nametag at work says "Lydia MacLauchlan" it was both weird and comforting to see that. I've been making an effort to hang out with people a little more lately, and in so doing I've reconnected with an old friend who'se wife and Lydia get along very well. It's true that married people only really hang out with other married people.

Not sure I could be much happier right now. I mean a nice house or a Macbook pro couldn't hurt. But those things are transitive! All of the important stuff is in place and I am a happy man.

Same boat Steve. And your right married couples hang with married couples lol.

How goes the hobby ?

Pretty good! Been working on some panzergrenadiers. Also am doing some major commission work- painting up an entire US Tank Company for someone.

Sorted my paratroopers on Sunday, probably gonna start on them soon. How about you? Glad to see you're back at work on your gliders!

Great to hear ...

Yes ... happy to be back on the horse and getting painting done. I am already looking to the EW tournie and getting a german army started. Have you decided what army you are going to use ??

Commission work huh ? Awesome to hear. Is it mostly tanks or is infantry involved ?

Yeah I'm doing mostly tanks. Infantry takes a while, although I do have a technique that turns out some good looking infantry in a short amount of time (and thus don't need to charge an arm and a leg).

I've done $1 a figure for some friends in the past, and both of us were happy with the end results. Tanks are a lot easier to do for me though- it's easy for me to make them look great without spending ridiculous amounts of time on them.

To be honest I haven't given much thought to the EW tourney. It's not that EW doesn't interest me, it's just that absolutely zero of my current models cross over to EW Europe so I would basically be starting from scratch. If it was early war desert (which very much DOES interest me) I'd be all over it. I'm going to have to think about whether or not I want to invest in EW, and especially now when cash is a little tight.

I might just have to borrow someone's army for that tourney :P If you need any help painting some of those sweet German grey panzers, let me know! I'll hook it up on the cheap :)

Lol ..... I will definitely let you know if a paint-a-thon is required.

My friend gave me his Badger 175 airbrush ....

Do you happen to have any tips on using it ?

indierockclimber said...

I'd like to learn how myself :) No idea how to use an airbrush whatsoever.

Once I get a decent setup ... you are invited to learn on mine.

Sounds good! I'm sure it would significantly speed up large jobs.
